In his interview in the magazine "Quest", Neil Arsmtrong had this to say aboyt NASA:
Those working for NASA, contrary to other governement agencies, were first, interested, second, motivated and three, fascinated by the job they were doing. Every time you find those ingredients, whether in the government or private industry or a shop, you win for sure.
When he landed, several things surprised him immediately (even though it was logical to expect them):
The apparent proximity of the horizon.
The dust trajectory when we kicked it with our boots. There was no dust actually as there never was a cloud of dust.
I was flabbergasted when I turned the engine off and when the particles which were ejected laterally from the bottom of the engine, were spreading above the horizon. When the engine was shut, the particles followed their path further away than the horizon and instantly disappeared, as if the engine had been shut off for a week.
