I don't even understand this kind of thinking. Does anyone care what kind of message giving in to France and the rest will send to those nations that did stick with us?
Oh, yeah. That's right. In the strange world of the Left, we HAVE no other nations on our side. Leave France out, and all our actions are "unilateral."
How many people here think that giving contracts to France will suddenly make France come up with troops, money, or any other assistance for our efforts in Iraq?
Now, how many people think they will take the cash and continue to throw crap at us?
"historically have stood with the United States?" Not lately, pal.
"richest and most powerful nations?" Really? Is that a fact.
Can someone please list the benefits of being on France's "nice list?" Maybe we can check out a country that actually is on their nice list and see what goodies they are getting. Maybe France might want to think about what it means to get off our "nice list."
This isn't about the money. It's $18 billion of all the money being spent, and contractors can subcontract to any nation it wants.
This is about getting America to crawl. And it's amazing how many Americans think that's a good thing. Som e people think that the role of the productive and generous in this world is to crawl in apology to those who are not, and be grateful for the opportunity to kiss their ass. This doesn't just apply to nations, either.
I have heard some scuttlebutt that we may cut Canada a break on this. We'll see what happens.
