I hardly ever watch SNL, but last night they did a skit on Dean and Gore, before the news of saddam came out.
It was incredibly funny and made a great point that Dean may well regret having Gore as his big backer.
One of Gore's major points in supporting Dean is his war stance. And now it is becoming clear that the war is progressing well indeed, and that it is a couple of intellectually bankrupt former allies who are behind the curve, not us.
I think about now Dean will be wanting to back and fill on his foreign policy posiiton, but he is such a reactionary he may well dig himself deeper.
Gore's amorphous political and ethical stance is something repellant to most people, but Dean, the internet candidate who buys into wackjob conspiracy hype is apparently attracted to Gore. They are both children of privelage who reinvent themselves at whim, and pose as just plain folk.
This inauthentic core of each cost gore the election and will cost Dean the same, if not the nomination itself.
Dean may very well find out that he is in a hole similar to saddam's, but that having his pal in it with him makes it a bit crowded.

Goron's sense of timing is incredible.
