re: Non-destructive weapons?
If soldiers could carry a radar system with them, then maybe a computer could trace the origin of every bullet, and within seconds fire a fluorescent ink grenade at the target. It would explode and cover anyone in the vicinity (within running distance) with ink. After the gunfire dies down they could apprehend the guys that are covered in ink and check their hands for gunfire residue.
