A couple of things about P5-A the Mars Comms Sat:

It's being built by AMSAT-DL and AMSAT-NA is not supporting it with money at all. This is very unlike AO-40 (AKA P3-D)! Members of North American AMSAT didn't want to pay money for a sat so far away...even though (if they had half a brain) many could get a very long distant Comms thru it (a very big deal is how far you've communicated with other HAMs).

Also the Mars Society Germany has a Mars Balloon mission being built to fly with this mission...which probably will be the lowest cost part of the mission if it happens.

P5-A still needs a ride into space and going the right direction, I believe...
