"Who does Number Two work for?"

Citing unnamed US officials, the television network said US intelligence agencies had gathered detailed information about the plan, according to which al-Qaeda operatives will seek to hijack foreign airliners and fly them into targets in the United States.

In some instances, the intelligence is so detailed as to include specific flight numbers, the report said

Heady with the success of its previous devastating strike against the United States on September 11, 2001, the sinister Al Qaeda network now appears so confident in its ability to skyjack airliners for use as weapons that it openly communicates flight numbers, target cities and other operational details in its dispatches to operatives, in contradistinction to 911, when the terrorists managed to pull off their amazing feat without leaving a single scrap of incriminating paper, according to FBI Director Robert Mueller:

"In our investigation, we have not uncovered a single piece of paper—either here in the United States or in the treasure trove of information that has turned up in Afghanistan and elsewhere—that mentioned any aspect of the Sept. 11 plot."

Never content to seize airliners within short flying distance to their targets, Al Qaeda now appears to be trying to "hotdog it" by taking command of commercial aircraft departing from distant airfields in France, of all places. Apparently, al Qaeda is confident in its ability to "freeze" both U.S. air defence assets and the American leadership with a mysterious "sit tight and look the other way" potion, which includes a supply of ready, albeit unbelievable alibis which seem to have a befuddling effect on the public-at-large.

Statements about the threat did not specify if Al Qaeda operatives were instructed to take their Korans, flight training manuals, and indestructable passports to De Gaulle with them, nor was it clear if the suspected suicide pilots were free to follow in the footsteps of the predecessors, and enjoy a night of lap dances and booze before their planned passage to the realm of the 72 virgins.
