re: Incompatibility with Mars Odyssey relay satellite

Mars Odyssey is still in orbit around Mars from a previous mission, and is supposed to act as a relay satellite for future missions, such as Beagle 2. Is it possible that the communication systems are on incompatible frequencies? If Mars Express can communicate with Mars Odyssey and Beagle 2, why can't Beagle 2 communicate with Mars Odyssey?

Mars Express <--> Mars Odyssey (relay)
Mars Express <--> Beagle 2 (as designed, possibly out of range)
Beagle 2 <--> Mars Odyssey (alternative relay)
