Nothing has ever been more chaotic than French foreign policy. Think back. From the time that the French brought invasion by killing Marie Antoinette (she was the daughter of the Austro-Hungarian Emperor), through the failure of France to prepare a defense in 1914, to the time that the French brought Hitler into power by senseless invasion and occupation of the Ruhr Valley (for non-payment of unpayable WW1 debt), to the Maginot Line and French unpreparedness for the obvious German attack), to the idiotic attempt to keep Algeria a part of France (despite the vast cultural gap between Arab and Frank), to the French withdrawal from NATO and her attempt to "go it alone" during the Cold War, (need I go on?), French foreign policy has been crazier than a March hare. Why should it be any different now?
"The difference between Heaven and Hell is due entirely to who does what jobs.
In Heaven, the French are the cooks and the British run the Government.
In Hell, the British are the cooks and the French run the Government."
