Sedimentary Rocks Busted By Impact Will Not Be Smooth

I think the shapes are useless in evaluating what the rocks are since Mars has suffered billions of years of impacts since any sedimentary rocks were likely to have formed. That is why MER carries all the spectral equipment to measure composition. Gustev was the top choice of mission scientists after the hematite site acording to the PBS special. I'm not sure the hematite site was the first choice based on science or the combination of science and lander safety.
