Cough!
Still fighting off the 2-week-long flu, among other more serious medical ailments I'm suffering.
Hospitals are a drag. Happy new year, huh?
NOW TO THE TOPIC AT HAND!
Good for JPL!
Another success for them.
The images Spirit are returning are rather refreshing! The absence or rocks in the landing zone
are a refreshing change from the rock-strewn surfaces on much of Mars and the moon.
BY THE WAY! When JPL eventually gets around to driving that thing and then starts
"stitching together" the images the rover will take on the move, BE CAREFUL that you
don't suffer motion sickness!
EXAMPLE: Let's say JPL engineers stitch together the digital image frames uplinked from the rover
on the move; and let's say the image frames are taken at [EXAMPLE] SIX FOOT INTERVALS; then
for a 24 images-per-second video footage, that works out to about 24 images/second x 6 feet/images = 144 feet/second.
Imagine the illusion of riding over the flat surface of Gusav Crater at about 144 feet per second?
That's about 100mph...At that speed, the slighest bump on the martian surface and I'd woof my cookies.

A word of caution about Spirit's imagery.
