I am fortunate to have access to NASA TV in my home. So I had a front row seat to one of the great moments in history. Saturday night I was on the edge of my seat watching and waiting for the landing of Spirit. It was fun to watch the faces and listen to the cheers of the scientists and engineers as they realized that what they had been working for for years had just succeeded.
It was much better than watching a super bowel game. It beats any World Series, NBA championship, or Stanley Cup. How could Shaq bouncing a basketball compete with the bouncing of Spirit across the Martian desert? This time the cheering was for something of great significance. Much more important that a mere ball game. It brought tears to my eyes.
Not just a game.
