Anyone heard anything about when some TES data should come in?
That could be more important than the visual images in deciding where to go. Given how dust-free the rocks are we might well see some differences in composition -- IF there are any such differences. From a first glance at the color image there wasn't anything that was obviously not the standard dark igneous rock vs so I'm not optimistic that TES will show lumps of limestone and gypsum lying about -- Mars won't make it that easy! But if there is much variation to be found underneath Gusev you'd think we'd see some differences in the rocks tossed around the surface. We're not very far from some decent-sized craters, after all.
Btw, it did ocurr to me that I didn't notice as many rocks that appeared vesicular as were apparent at the Viking 1 and Pathfinder sites, but I won't claim to have checked into that in any serious way.
Mini-TES -- when should we get some data?
