Empty monument in North Korea
North Korea's attempt at a skyscraper. Huge, and totally useless.
It says much about the nature of totalitarianism that they tend to make massive and often useless imitations of what capitalism has created, apparently certain that human progress is driven by such things, instead of vice versa. As a space enthusiast, the height of this for me was the near-carbon-copy of the Shuttle built by the Soviet Union: Buran. It flew once, and never again.
