re: Far too distant in the future

There is no way to tell what our descendants will look like when the Earth will become inhospitable to our species.
Things that we consider frightening for various reasons (like religious ones or cutural ones) might very well become the norm.
Our descendants might lack abilities we consider for granted and advantageous today. And they might not even understand why there would be such a difference.
1,100,000 years from now, could we still be there? I read an article that suggests that evolution has become cultural and no more through natural selection. This could make us last much longer than any other animal. But the cultural evolution could in fine end up reconstituting selective pressure.
More than a Billion years from now, it's just impossible to relate to those who'll be around, if they're around.
