it happened on pathfinder

It was pointed out by one of the engineers on NASA TV last night that the Pathfinder rover had the same buildup of dirt on its wheels. However it appeared to be caused bye some sort of static electricity buildup and would periodically discharge and the dirt would fall off the wheels.
