It makes somewhat more sense to me
for those of us that find estimates of 300 to 750 billion for the Bush space program to be credible. It's a lot cheaper to send stuff one-way into a gravity well. Mars Sample Return is looking pretty expensive as a means of getting a kilogram of rock off the ground.
This one-way idea should be given the same budget analysis as Bush's ideas.
