HST has performed its mission brilliantly
It's painful that they're going to let HST die and burn up in the atmosphere (I would liked to have seen it displayed with honor in the Smithsonian). However HST has performed its mission far more brilliantly than anyone expected (especially after the mirror screwup). We'll just have to press hard for the Next Generation Space Telescopes to pickup where HST left off.
