Liquid water on the surface of mars is just not feasible- The only thing preventing that ideas acceptance are the educated studies and calculations of scientists that have spent much of their lives becoming experts in their field...
Most of the experts WILL agree that there is much evidence for liquid water on mars in the distant past, and will accept the possibility, or even probability, for some quantity of water ice under the surface of Mars...
Exposed ice on mars would quickly sublimate- On the summit of Mauna kea, a place FAR more conducive to liquid water than Mars, the snow that falls up there sublimates quickly- making fascinating wind carved features...
Most agree that Gusev was once a lakebed, but there is no MUD... I would love for water to be that abundant on mars, but physics and data do not support that...
Now, if by some miracle I am wrong, I will be the first to happily admit I was wrong.... If on the other hand the rover tests show that the surface is so dessicated as to make the phrase 'dry as a bone' wholly inadequate, what will be YOUR response? Will you just chalk it up as scientist's bias? A conspiracy? Or will you finally admit that MAYBE these experts know a little more than you on the subject?
Space/Science » in reply to At this stage the evidence is overwhelming there is current liquid water on Mars.
