Question on scaling for Tom

Pardon me for asking, but would a scaling up of a particular spacecraft be somewhat linear? Would an engine with the same ISP of say 3x the thrust and given 3x the propellant move 3x the weight the same delta V? My hypothetical example is using the equivalent of the LM descent engine as the engine for a larger ascent stage. Would the resulting spacecraft be about 2.8x as massive? Max thrust of descent engine was 10,000 lbs or about 2.8X the 3,500 lbs of the original ascent stage.
