Well, you can use bearings from the landing site on the original panoramas, but as the mission develops and the rover moves, we have new reference points and new items of interest. Best thing is to take a snapshot of a part of the image and draw a circle round the thing you're talking about, and post it. A picture is worth 1000 bytes...
And no, I'm not officially part of the project. Still in the wilderness, but listening to the cold, dry, winds blowing dusty olivine around the Blue Mars people, I suspect that may not last for ever...
