Bush and spending
I'm afraid I have to agree with this article. Bush needs to dust off that veto pen, something he should have started doing two years ago.
Maybe he's trying to please the liberals, but frankly, Ted Kennedy is going to go after his balls no matter WHAT he does, so I'd like to see some good, old fashioned squalling again from the Democrats on how "mean spirited" the Republicans are for not spending trillions on social programs.
I have some hopes that the conservatives in the House, which seems to be the only place left where the hardline fiscal conservatives hang out any more, will be able to mount a real attack on excess spending, and bring the arguments straight to the people. Newt, we miss you.
