re: Reference to Kay's admission

I didn't see he part about "...David Kay who is now publically admitting his search Iraqi WMDs was a failure".

I did see that Kay felt frustrated and seemed to want more command authority of the ISG: "When I had started out I had made it a condition that ISG be exclusively focused on WMD, that's no longer so," he said.
Which either means Kay has some ego problem (unlikely) or that he thought the search for WMD was important- thought it should have a higher priority than what others thought were priorities.
The key quote is:
"What everyone was talking about is stockpiles produced after the end of the last (1991) Gulf War, and I don't think there was a large-scale production program in the nineties".

As a one of "everyone":). I hadn't thought that it was very likely that there was " large-scale production program in the nineties". I wasn't too worried about an existing large scale production [though if unwatched, in the future Saddam might have ramped up production]- now if I lived near the region, perhaps I might been more concerned with this possiblity. My most immediate concern was that Saddam was not cooperating with the cease fire agreement. And I wasn't worried about a conventional type warfare of WMD, rather I was worried about terrorist gaining access to WMD. In other words I wasn't too worried about a "big footprint type operation"- that's a unrealistic threat to America and if this threat is to another country in the region, this can be countered with a US nuclear deterrent or given enough time, B-52s flattening a large area.
