You're a nice person. Your heart's in the right place, and if you were my neighbor, I'd probably bring you cookies and pet your cats.
But for God's sake, you have to develop an input filter. Even the White Queen only believed six impossible things before breakfast. What possible reason would you have for believing that this guy is telling the truth? Even assuming the whole thing isn't bullshit, he went to the embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan with his story. It's not like he showed up at the White House. Here's another story he's been telling.
Before the war, defectors from Iraq told us about al Qaeda training for hijackings in Salman Pak (confirmed, incidentally, by the guy who is now heading the weapons search), weapons of mass destruction, and a lot of other things supposedly going on in Iraq. Did you believe them? Why not? Because what they said weren't what you wanted to hear? Why is this other guy believable? Because you want to believe with all your heart that Bush is a monster from hell?
