Iraq was, however, an open enemy of the United States, Israel, and all points West, in that order. Iraq was also a running test bed for WMD operations, with a known, proven willingness to sell such weapons, preferably to enemies of the United States, Israel, and all points West.
The most dangerous place in the world a year ago? No. Wouldn't have wanted to winter there, though.
You might see it different, and you're permitted your blinders.
