The other night on his Jay Walking segment Jay Leno asked people about the space program, and the new space initiative. In most respects it was disappointing but in others it was a little encouraging. However for the most part people are completely ignorant of anything to do with space. None could name the first man on the moon, or much else about it. One lady thought the moon landing happened last year. Another thought the Moon was further away than Mars etc. etc. Such is the success of our education system and news media. The only thing good was that most were not totally hostile, just not very interested, or knowledgeable. Of course I suspect he puts on mostly people that exhibit hilarious stupidity. If some one did seem to know a lot about it, he wouldn't make it on the air. After all it is a comedy show.
