Remembering Columbia

A wooden cross bearing a plaque enscribed 'American Hero' marks the spot Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, where human remains were found near Hemphill, Texas, after the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated in the sky over southeast Texas last Feb. 1.
In the not-too-distant future, despite two orbiters having already scattered themselves across the skies, seven more people will still come walking straight and tall towards another Shuttle ready for launch. Those are heroes, too.
And if they go down, there will be seven more.
We will run out of orbiters long before we run out of heroes.
