Started converting one of my work machines to Linux this week. SICK TO DEATH of Windows and the efforts it takes to secure a MS box.

Going with RH enterprise. I ran a RH 7 server for a year once, serving a fairly high valume, but its different... A server you spend a week or two setting up and then (at least for me), you just monitor it and try not to touch anything important. Its a very 'research' driven task, where you can take a lot of time up front. With a tool-of-the-trade desktop, you have to know how to do every little thing quickly and efficiently. Its the difference between having a great set of reference books and a theoretical understanding of how linux is put together, and being able to bash like mad and having it all at your fingertips.

It will be a learning curve, but god I'm sick of windows. Virus free for years, but don't even get me started on how many work days iv'e lost keeping it that way...
