To clarify we are discussing the semantics of a "meme", that is its definition. The more we attempt to define it's meaning, with exclusive uses, and excluded uses, we are constructing a "philosophy". If we go so far as to construct a philosophy, then the meme will no longer be transient, but might become a persistent part of the english language. The more people use the word, and understand its meanings and appropriate useages, the more it's tendancy to become part of an ideal, or even a larger dogma.

Until then a meme is just a buzzword, or a notion whose definition is inferred by a collection of words.
