Earth sciences in the NASA budget
From spacedaily:
NASA's scientific research, particularly on Earth, is the main loser in the new budget. Its allocation falls to 7.69 billion dollars from 7.83 billion dollars in 2004.
Now, I realize that when we're talking about billions, the tenths column represents a substantial sum, but can this really be interpreted as the "falling of an axe?" These guys tighten their belts a notch, they'll probably be ok. Sure, we all want a new chair and the latest version of MS Office, but sometimes we just have to stretch things.
Or am I being cruel and unfeeling? (Wouldn't be the first time...)
