gravity wave detectors
any thoughts/comments on the viability of existing or proposed laser interferometer gravitational wave detectors such as LIGO, LISA etc? Assuming Einstein is right and gravity waves do exist - but the order of magnitude is something like 10^-22 m ! The noise-filtering and signal-detection problems/tasks beggar the imagination ..
Are these projects white elephants or is there a chance they could detect radiation from massive/nearby astrophysical events?
All comments welcome ..
Daniel
