Yes, that's true. Just two weeks ago, a company that was recruiting me literally offered me a "blank check" if I went to work for them. I turned them down. My company has been very loyal to me, so I'd be some kind of ingrate if I didn't show loyalty in return. Besides, you have to take a long view. Sometimes, a company will lure someone for a big salary, learn what they know, then cut them loose a few months later. This is not a good time to be looking for a job in the tech sector. I'm being raped by taxes anyway, so there isn't much incentive to go for a higher salary so I can get raped even harder. I've reached my comfort zone where I am earning my current salary (which was just bumped up over 6% by my existing company.)
