The people voting for Kerry in the primaries (California looks to get hind tit yet again this year in the primary choices) are basing their vote on a single thing: beating Bush. This is not a guess on my part--they did surveys. They don't know Kerry, his philosophy, his plans, his record, or anything else. Just that the polls say he can beat Bush. Nobody stops to think about the fact that these polls are also based on a dislike of Bush, and on no particular virtues on the part of Kerry.
This is being called the "Kerry Bubble."
When will it bust?
Thanks to the front-loading of primaries, it's possible the Democratic voters will wake up and find the ugly guy in bed with them wearing the wedding ring even before the convention makes it official, which should make events at the convention extremely amusing.
If the Left thinks they have been screwed, the Green Party could raise its ugly head again. One rumor has Dean thinking about going Green, which (although highly unlikely IMO) would have Democratic National Committee members diving out of fifth story windows.
