Ya don't want to know

It was a joke Nick...on another board. But here it is:

Startling new theory explains Opportunity spherules!
Mon Feb 16 00:31:01 2004

I don't know why I hadn't thought of this before. But now it all suddenly makes sense. This is more than just hyper-speculation. The spherules at the Opportunity crater site are really miniature pink elephant turds! Its all very clear to me now.

Now how do I know these are miniature pink elephant turds? We'll let me ask you...has Dr. Squyres said they are not miniature pink elephant turds? If not, how can we possibly rule this explanation out? Who cares what the spectrometer does or doesn't tell us. Even if it doesn't find that these are miniature pink elephant turds, can we still really rule out the possibility?

And why isn't NASA talking? What are they afraid of? Obviously because they won't admit that these are miniature pink elephant turds, they must be hiding something. The conclusion is inescapable. Miniature pink elephant turds. Its time to expose the cover-up.

Now, don't tell me I'm wrong. Just because I haven't any proof - prove me wrong. Its not my job to prove that they are miniature pink elephant turds. Its your job to prove that they are not.

And don't tell me pink elephants can't exist on Mars. How do we know that Mars doesn't operate according to a completely different set of biochemistry rules than the earth? Who cares that there's no air to speak of? No water to speak of? And no organic compounds to speak of? Maybe these pink elephants don't need air, water or food. Maybe they breathe carbon dioxide (what little there is), recycle their water waste and eat lava rocks. Maybe they like surface temperatures that can plummet to -50 degree centigrades almost every night. Maybe they don't mind being irradiated day in and day out.

Yup. Don't confuse me with facts to the contrary. Those little spherules look just like miniature pink elephant turds. So, obviously, that's what they must be. Its a better explanation than Lyall's sporophores, or Tim's rodents. Yup, miniature pink elephant turds - as good an explanation as any. Prove me wrong boys.

You had to have been there... :-)
