Space/Science » in reply to Gusev -- where's the hydrogen?

Notice that those darn spherules are...everywhere?

Check the latest MI images in Spirit's raw-images webpage!

What do you see in the Gusev Crater dust?
Micro-globules?...Aha?...Spherules?
They're EVERYWHERE!!
Blame Nick Hoffman! ;-)
He's responsible! He wants to kill JPL's Mars Exploration Budget.

OK! Let's be kind and generous to Nick
I looked through a GEOLOGY dictionary and checked up on
the definition of SPHERULITES.
This is what it [basically] said: Spherulites are 1-20mm in diameter;
volcanic in origin; they are...[wait for this!] HYDRATED alkali feldspars
subject to vitrification, etc; blah blah blah..."

OK! So where's the hydrogen? Part of the hydrated mineral makeup.

cheers.
