why is it I feel I'm under attack from the Right?
I don't feel I'm threatened by the Democrats. It's the Republicans who are telling me I'm stupid, lazy, and a freeloader, and that they're going to balance the budget on my back so they can treat themselves to a tax cut.
As for the "bitter clingers remark", he was right on. A large number of working class whites do bitterly cling to their guns and Jesus and lament how their pick-up truck good old boy cultural universe is fading right before their eyes. They don't reach anywhere near the 47% number, though. And there's fewer of them every day.
I'm not offended in the least by those remarks. I've lived my whole life surrounded by yahoos like that. I know exactly what Obama meant, and I agree with him.
