re: NASA looking for ideas to save the Hubble?
First, there are a number of instruments to take to the HST to make a repair worth the while.
Second, some of those instruments are so large I'm prettty sure they either can't be stored inside the CEV or can't get out of the hatch.
Third, the gyros will fail much sooner than the time when the HST is expected to re-enter (because the HST is really at a high altitude).
Fourth: what would be the point of only partially repairing the HST (because of lack of room) when the Shuttle is precisely built for the whole repair mission?
