re: Many valid points, but perhaps......

Porky should have pointed out the following quotes, they may have made the message a little clearer.

Winning
Therefore the skillful leader subdues the enemy's troops without any fighting; he captures their cities without laying siege to them; he overthrows their kingdom without lengthy operations in the field. .

Sun Tzu (6th–5th century B.C.), Chinese general. The Art of War, ch. 3, axiom 6 (c. 490 B.C.; ed. by James Clavell, 1981

Slander
A man calumniated is doubly injured— first by him who utters the calumny, and then by him who believes it.

Herodotus (c. 484–c. 425 B.C.), Greek historian. Artabanus, in Histories, bk. 7 (c. 430 B.C.), said of the disparagement of the Greeks by Mardonius.

And another thing:
I still think that if it is seen on radar at the same time as many witnesses are observing it, then there must be "something" there even if no one can identify it.

(No offense meant to Porky's fine attributes, just a thought that occurred to me.)
