re: The Apollo Program

The following is taken from the new website for the President's Commission on Moon, Mars and Beyond:

------
As of February 17, over 1.3 million people logged on to the site, and almost 4,000 emailed their comments. A health care consultant from Pennsylvania said: "I no longer dream of personally leaving this earth as I once did as a child, youth, but can only hope our children will have this opportunity."
------

The Apollo Program failed to fulfill the dreams of a generation. With the same approach to exploration of the Moon, Mars & Beyond how can we not expect the same failure. The health care consultant from Pennsylvania had a "dream of personally leaving this earth". Only something far beyond rocket technology can fulfill that dream.

I've read that NASA considers tethers to be a 'next generation' space technology. It has been 30 years since Apollo and I have news for them: THIS IS THE NEXT GENERATION. I am part of it. This is my generation. That view of Earth should be seen first hand by millions of people.
