The number two in the Al-Qaeda terror network urged US President George Bush to step up security and threatened new attacks on the United States in a recording attributed to him by Al-Jazeera television station on Tuesday.
"The Islamic nation which sent you the New York and Washington brigades has taken the firm deicison to send you successive brigades to sow death and aspire to paradise," said a speaker reported to be Ayman Zawahiri, deputy to Osama bin Laden who masterminded the September 11 suicide hijackings.
"Al-Qaeda is still waging jihad (holy war) and brandishes the banner of Islam against the Zionist-crusader campaign," he said.
