How that started.

Der Fuhrer got the right to imprison anyone he wanted for as long as he wanted.

And the vast majority of the Germans, thinking it would always be the other guy or some minority, assented.

Imagine how history would be different if the Germans had been able to see beyond their own skins are not given that power to one person.
