The Viking results have not been PROVEN not have been due to life. For one thing nobody still has provided an oxidant that satisfies all requirements of satisfying the results of the Viking life experiment results. Even in the case of the experiments in the Atacama desert, the supposed oxidant mimicking life could not been identified, and the commonly proposed oxidants to explain the Viking results were also RULED OUT.
