"They just don't get it."

I open my eyes and I am back, and glad of it. Trishaa stands there waiting for me operating the controls to the atomic resonator.

"How did it go?"

"They just don't get it."

"Do you think it's still too early?"

"It must be. All over the world they cling to barbarism, religion and self-pity like it's still the dark ages."

"There is a proper time and a place. One can't force progress."

"I know...it's supposed to be the time...but it's just.."

"Just what?"

"It's just I think their universe missed something. Somebody didn't do their job right. I tried checking the chronobanks and their current form of data transfer called the internet, but when you don't know what to look for it's very time consuming. Even after obtaining their fastest transfer mode at over 2 million bytes per second - it's painfully slow. I went through all the ages, checked off all the great philosophers, inventors, scientists, painters, politicians, wars, treaties and everything I could think of but couldn't find any disparity - but I can feel it. It's there...somewhere...and it has held them back."

I walk over to the crystalline wall and look down upon the city.

"balcony"

The crystalline wall dissipates as if it had never been there and a balcony materializes out of the atoms adjoining the tower.

I step out and walk twenty steps until I am over the city and can really convince myself I am back home. I gaze at the beauty and the tranquility around me, inhale the love and the peace that permeates the air, which smells divinely of freesia and gardenias, even all the way up here.

"It is good to be back."

Trishaa wraps her hands around my neck. I hold her slender waist and I peer down into her azure blue eyes.

"Husband...you don't need to do this. There are other projects, other assignments...you can always request a transfer."

"Darling, you know history as well as I do. If I transfer - history will change, their future will be forever altered. Billions might absorb that would have otherwise had a chance."

"You don't know that for certain. You, yourself, said you felt a disparity. It might have been someone else who failed in their assignment. You needn't blame yourself. Or perhaps this universe is fundamentally different in some manner - and perhaps your future transferring is really a part of that."

"But it would mean the change at one point in the time stream would have had to have retroactively altered the past?"

"Yes. There have been precedents."

"True..only it happens so very rarely. I must think upon this."

I kiss Trisha. Her lips are full and eager and my heart skips a beat as she re-energizes me with her love. We pause to take a breath. Her eyes are alight and the soft light of the rosy sky around us reflects in her pupils.

Meanwhile across the city other events are unfolding. Two men stand near one of the large central fountains in the immense gardens and converse in hushed tones.

"So did you accomplish your mission? Manzelor?"

"I did. All the early translations of Jhesuse words were destroyed. It was so easy too. I arrived less than a year after Jhesuse had departed. "

"And his teachings? Did you change that which needed to be changed?"

"Yes and easily! I distorted and twisted the words just as the computer had determined - now it's nothing better than nonsensical gibberish."

"What about dimensions? And sine waves?"

"They'll be worshipping mansions and snakes!"

"Good. Good! And what about cancelling negative acts?"

"Simple. I told the followers that just worshipping Jhesuse would cancel them!"

"Beautiful. Are you sure you excised it all?"

"Of course. I am a professional."

"Good work! The Council of Red will be pleased."

I sit in my office and review the events as I recorded them. The large chronosphere on my desk shows the positions of the planets, the sun and the various current times on all of the various worlds. I look closely at the list of time travelers who came before and look at the last two names on the list: Jhesuse and Manzelor.

I look again at the internet data after it is converted and projected as large pages throughout the room. I stand and stare at each site. Walking through the holomages as I take a closer look at something that catches my eye.

Oh finite! All of the illustrations have been excised from Jhesuse works! There is not a single original illustration left! How can this be? I saw copies of his report! He carefully sketched all of his lessons.

I return to the data and access all 4,285,199,774 pages as were cached in the Google server simultaneously. I do cross references for all of the parables, the sermon on the mount and I can find no mention at all of the speech by the cave. It simply doesn't exist.

It's worse than I thought. It's amazing thing's were as similar as they were. A real artisan of distortion has been at work. The central computer must have been used to calculate and process all the variables to leave a clean excision leaving a framework that is nearly identical to what it is supposed to be. Truly a magnificent bit of time distortion.

I look again at the names.

Manzelor!

It must be him! It must!

But why do such a monstrous thing! Trillions of souls lie in the balance! It's a barbaric tactic straight out of the twentythird century!

I must access the central computer. I must devise a manner in which to change what is necessary to restore the Earth's proper evolutionary course.

The computer creates fifteen of the most probable lists of changes which could restore history to it's proper course. The beauty of history is that each universe has its own quirks and as the timestream changes no one on Earth or on any other world even realizes their whole universe has been shifted to a new timestream.

Sometimes I wonder if my Trishaa is the same when I return. Everytime we kiss after I return I keep wondering if someone or something has pushed my home into a new timestream while I am gone. I know she must be thinking the same thing when I open my eyes and see her there.

Yet I must return. I take the lists and tell Trishaa to activate the atomic resonator. In the twenty-first century they would say I had been disintegrated. Dead. Kaput. What a riot! As my atoms are completely converted into energy they accelerate at the speed of light and allow me to tunnel through time towards my target destination. I appear in a flash. No pain and only slight disorientation.

The house is just the same as I left it. I look at the clock. I haven't even been gone five minutes.

Time to get to work!
