Space/Science » in reply to Mars is all WET!!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes!...But to be serious, we have to start making a 'time-scale' distinction.

Undoubtedly, Robert Clark is crowing over these latest JPL results.

But a word of caution, Robert, before you say "I told you so":
The MER Rover Opportunity only found substantive and convincing
evidence that THAT area of Mars ONCE was drenched in liquid
water a LONG TIME AGO (whether the ancient martian water was acidic or briny, too early to tell).

So the Meridiani region on Mars was likely drenched in water...
maybe a billion years ago?
But a billion years ago...is not today.

Opportunity, or Spirit, have YET to PROVE that there's subsurface
briny water there TODAY beneath the surface.
You maybe right about that hypothesis too...
Buta word of caution:
Perhaps neither Mars Rover will offer convincing evidence for present day subsurface liquid water there; neither rover has neutron spectrometers to detect hydrogen found in liquid water.
