That's been the plan for a number of years.
Actually getting the tax cut was beyond their wildest dreams. It was something to try for, would have been a way to promote campaign contributions.
More realistic was arranging the transfer of money to the military-industrial complex directly. The missile defence system is one of those schemes.
Then would come the budget crunch, with NO money left for domestic purposes. Except "Homeland Security".
And then what was beyond hope actually did occur. They got both houses of Congress, and an opportunity to spend money on the military.
And there will be nothing left for domestic policy, except for plans which shovel money to large pharmaceutical companies and insurers.
They are also draining money away from SS right now, and feeding it to Halliburton, et al.
Gotta admit, it's working for them. An enormous transfer of wealth to the already wealthy.
If GWB can get elected, it will demonstrate the power of money to buy an election, and the US will have become an oligarchy.

Yep. And, Social Security is being drained, even though it's taking in more money than it's spending.
