Gen. Tommy Franks says that if the United States is hit with a weapon of mass destruction that inflicts large casualties, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government.
I must have missed this. It is a fact he said it, something which wouldn't be mentioned lightly. Didn't of any denials, outrage or distancing ("General Franks is also an American citizen, and entitled to speak his private opinions") coming from the White House. My guess is they're already considering it. He said "likely".
Looking back on the "Attack on America", when one also realizes that GWB & Co. is doing everything it can to keep the commission investigation 9-11 from finding out all the relevant information they knew, (another fact) when
Bush and Cheney can only find an hour each to talk with the commission, (fact) when
Rice won't testify publically (fact) after being on national TV almost every Sunday, (fact)
and when they won't testify under oath, (fact)
one can savely assume they're gonna lie anyway and knew enough to be far more effective at stopping it, and didn't. (Partly assumption – though it's their voluntary actions which lead reasonable people to a reasonable conclusion. Partly not assumption - reliable folks in the FBI and elsewhere believe the attack could have been prevented.)
Scariest things I've seen.
