Look, I have no idea how old you are, or where you were during the last gasp of the 60s and 70s. But for most of my adult life, among average people, if I had quoted anything in an argument from the John Birch Society I would have been tossed out the door. The John Birch Society was everything that stood in the doorway of a school with an axe handle, everything that talked about Dark Conspiracies, and everything that stood for building bunkers in the woods and stocking up on surplus grenades. The organization was a buzz word, a joke, even among conservatives, and I have seen nothing since to change that viewpoint.
