Now, I'm beginning to think that a sense of humor is primarily a liberal trait. Exempt laughing at someone else's misfortune from that.

Tom can snicker a bit when he wants to, and I'm trying to think of who else on conservative side. None come to mind.

I suspect they're too full of compassion and an awareness of the human condition to have room to see anything funny. After all, there are wars, repression, profiteering, and so on happening, and humor isn't called for. Tends to interrupt serious looting.
