Reaction/Recrystallisation rim
You will recall that we have already seen that the granules of the host rock become coarser as we approach the rim of a spheroid. Ocham's razor suggest that this is simply a location from which a paired or elongate "berry" has been lost during weathering.
Of course, one should always be wary about arguments based on a key item which is missing!
