I don't trust any of these big oil baron buttmonkies to tell us why the price of gas has shot up. I wouldn't trust any of the oil execs, why just look at California a few years ago. The insiders created false power shortages, altered their books, passed their money-making scheme on to the consumers. They made hundreds of millions (or wuz it billions?) of dollars. Remember Governor Gray Davis begging President Bush to come in and cap the prices? Remember GWB saying no? Remember they had just had their secret "energy meetings" at Cheney's house over Christmas? Now these guys finally admitted it was a fraud and the judge made them pay back all of .02% in fines. What a bunch of fools we are! We keep eating it up and they keep doing it. I say we bring back the public stockade and start with all the dishonest politicians, White House included.
