Direct Ethanol Fuel Cell (on topic)

It spins a prop!!! Woohoo!!! The DEFC is $269 bucks, as a demonstration kit.

"Total package weight approx. 300g"....

"The Direct Ethanol Fuel Cell (MEA 9 cm2) runs the motor at 780 mV and delivers a peak power of 180 mW. With a full tank the fan runs for more than 24 hours. Actual performance depends on several factors and is not guaranteed. The cell is for educational use only. If you are not satisfied or the cell does not seem to work then please contact us and we will be glad to assist you. Do not use household alcohol or liquor to refill the cell. "

A while ago I tried to design a gossamer indoor model aircraft with an ultra-low wing loading and a tiny DEFC propulsion system. Tough, and at the time the fuel cell tech was WAY too expensive. Now maybe I'll dig up those plans...
